Even Iron men bend

Phil-finish.jpg
Kitchen Rat salutes Phil Roker the business development director at City caterer Vacherin.

If you think your day has been hard spare a thought for the insane Roker who completed - no mean feat in itself - the Frankfurt Ironman on the 1 July raising, to date, £2,000 for charities Hospitality Action and Debra.

Roker put himself through a 2.4 mile swim followed by a 112 mile bike ride and a what-the-hell-I-can-still-stand marathon (the full 26.2 miles).

For the record he came in 697th out of a field of 2,500 or so (although perhaps unsurprisingly only 2,121 actually finished).

It makes Gordon Ramsay's efforts in the London Marathon look a bit girly really but it seems it is Roker that through his gruelling training has got in touch with his true feminine side.

Asked what his biggest regret was now it was all over he replied the fact that he had been told by Mrs Roker to stop shaving his legs. Indeed.

You can still add to Phil's total at Just Giving until the end of the month.
