What have the Anglo-Saxons ever done for us?
Okay, forget the roads, the sanitation and the street lighting, they're a bunch of imperious know it alls subjugating the Celts if you ask me!
Yes, no doubt meetings of the Cornish Liberation Army (CLA), where they get slowly blasted on beer from the St Ives Brewery, are in a Monty Python style, great fun.
Well fear not, budding businessmen and celebrity chefs alike, for a man has been arrested in the peculiar case: “The extremist threats against Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein”.
If you remember this was the truth-is-stranger-than-fiction news last month that the dreaded CLA had threatened to do Rick Stein and cheeky chappie Jamie Oliver in.
Why? Well the blighters had had the gall to open successful businesses in the region.
This has had the knock on effect of showcasing areas such as beautiful Padstow in Cornwall with the perhaps predictable result that a few well-heeled sorts decided to live there pushing house prices up.
Ignoring the fact that buying anything much more than a shed anywhere in the UK these days is damn expensive, the nutters at the CLA had it in for the culinary masters and sent some nasty e-mails to them to show just how angry they were.
You’d think the fact Stein has had a business in Padstow since 1974, which has contributed God knows how much to the local economy, and Oliver’s Fifteen at Watergate Bay is helping disadvantaged youngsters from the region, would be enough to placate most, but apparently not.
Long live the revolution!
