Oh dear. Could Gordon Ramsay have burnt his bridges with bosses at Claridge's?
In the fiery chef's latest media friendly outburst, he claimed in The Times that The Connaught management is "anally retentive"; is run by "little shits"; is "lord and lady' pompous"; and that its staff "walk around with their heads up their arse".
The Connaught - which recently replaced Ramsay protege Angela Hartnett with Helene Darroze - is, of course, run by the Maybourne Group, owner of Claridges.
Not the best way to ingratiate yourself.
Ramsay also bizarrely claimed that Hartnett's new restaurant with rooms, York & Albany in Camden, north London, would be "two fingers" up at the five-star hotel restaurant at the Connaught.
The Hardens, who have fallen out with Ramsay in recent times, were less than impressed with the chef's latest comments.
"The piece, it seemed to us, was a spectacular own goal on Ramsay's part, as his football-hooligan style of expression simply helped one understand why the Connaught would have been very pleased to be rid of him in the first place," they said.
I think that Gordon gets lots of bad press for speaking his mind. One has to ask why? I have always found Gordon down to earth especially considering his achievements, but he is commented on by people who are jealous and with big egos. Where do those big egos in this indusrty come from that Gordon is talking about. Gordon gives the customer what they want and succeeds at it. The others are just full of their own self importance. No one has ever commented on how disloyal Marcus Wareing is. If it wasn't for Gordon giving him the opportunties in the first place who knows where he would be. Certainly he wouldn't be at The Berkeley Hotel opening his new restaurant. I wonder if he ever said thank you for the opportunity and experience and without you I couldn't have done it? Somehow I don't think so, still that's egos for you. Unlike Angela Hartnett who works hard for Gordon and is thankful for the opportunities he gave her. Without Gordon's insperation there would be a lot of people that wouldn't have had the opportunites to go further in this industry. Why don't we celebrate that fact and stop knocking him.
Thanks for your comments Russell.
Mr Ramsay certainly provokes lots of opinions, both for and against.
What does everyone else think? Does he get a hard time or does he deserve everything he gets?
